The annual Michigan State Police Vehicle Testing is a big deal. Since 1975, these evaluations of sedans, SUVs and motorcycles have helped police departments across the United States make unbiased and informed decisions on what vehicles to add to their fleets. Because each precinct faces different types of terrain and public challenges, the testing focuses on a broad range of metrics including acceleration, speed, braking, suspension and vehicle dynamics. The raw results from the 2017 Michigan State Police Vehicle Testing have now been published on Michigan.gov, and the complete evaluation should be available soon.
Being headquartered in Michigan, SoundOff gets the opportunity to attend these testing events every year. Our blog and video crew was on the scene for the vehicle dynamics portion of the 2017 Michigan State Police Vehicle Testing, which took place on September 19th at Grattan Raceway. We got some great video footage and even snagged interviews with some of the key people involved in the process, including representatives from each of the big three vehicle manufacturers and one of the lieutenants in charge of testing. Hope you enjoy!
